Brown Bears of Bella Coola, 7-10 September 2019

This September, I embarked upon a trip to the Great Bear Rainforest in British Columbia, Canada to see whales and bears. My adventure started viewing grizzly bears near Bella Coola in Tweedsmuir Park. This was in part from the well managed public Atnarko River viewing platform in Stuie, and also from river level on float trips run by Kynoch Adventures. The mountainous terrain is absolutely beautiful, and the bear viewing appears to be relatively low impact. Sadly though, this year the salmon run was a fraction of its expected size, and so fewer bears than I'd hoped for were able to be seen fishing.
