Black Bear Cubs

Whilst these are potentially dangerous wild animals, you may consider this to be one of the cuter sections of this blog. About an hour before I was due to leave, I was lucky enough to see a black bear nursing her two cubs (below), a very moving experience. I also very much enjoyed observing black bear cubs relaxing in trees, relatively safe from adult bears in the area.

  1. Hi great photos. We're heading in July to Anan and then katmai. What time in July did you go? Any other recommendations of things to do in wrangle or king salmon

    1. Jon, sorry this is an extremely late reply, but I went to Anan in early July. In Wrangell it's well worth going on a boat trip to see the glacier.

  2. Great pictures Jeremy! I am putting together a story book for my grandsons and with your permission, I would like to use a few of these in the book. Is that acceptable to you? Thanks for your consideration! RMarkWebb@aol.com

  3. Hi Jeremy,
Great bear photos. I am a naturalist and will be giving a program on bears. I'd love to use your photo of the cubs nursing in my presentation, if it's OK with you. I'll put "photo by Jeremy" or whatever way you want me to give credit. Where was it taken?

    2. The photo of the cubs nursing was taken at Anan wildlife observatory near Wrangell in SE Alaska.
